We have made plans for the coming school year and wanted to pass on the information to you.
Our season will start with a team meeting on Thursday evening, September 11th, 2014 from 7-8:30 PM. The meeting will be at the Wagenmaker's home in Okemos. We will have monthly team meetings on one Thursday each month at the Wagenmakers. Our last team meeting will be on January 8th, 2015 before our first invitational.
We will also have OPTIONAL weekly opportunities at Coach Parker's home on Wednesdays in the afternoon. Tammy Parker will be offering topical instruction such as how to break down an event to prepare for it, time management, research skills, lab techniques, logging and graphing, etc. There will also be time to meet with an event partner to work on a specific event.
We are planning on attending 3 invitationals on Saturdays in Jan-Feb. Regionals will likely be in March. Unfortunately, specific dates for these are not yet available.
The cost for Science Olympiad will be around $95 per team member. This covers the cost of rule books, invitationals and regional competitions and team T-shirts. Some team members participate in fund raising to lower and sometimes cover their costs.
